A good CSS3 book for beginners

Hello, To advise a friend who is a beginner in css I seek recommendations of quality books in English. I know of a few resources on the web (SiteRaw, Mozilla, Code Aca, etc.) but I remember that paper books on web design were often criticized a few years ago. Would you have a reference for perfect beginner to advise me? My friend never coded before and so really starts from scratch. I remember that there was a fairly old book in English that was all the time recommended and that existed in free version online, but impossible to remember the name. The book was even translated into Dutch (and probably other languages), it covered the basics of web design all the way up to responsive design well before that became a trend. Unfortunately impossible to find the reference and I don't have it in my bookmarks anymore... If not another recent book (CSS3 would be good, but any version would do) to recommend? |

Take a look at the O'Reilly editions, I find their books well done. I have a few on C, C++, JS, PHP and they are accurate, relevant and thick. In short there is value for money and a few good night reads. I do not know however what they have on CSS3. |

Demonecromancy's recommendation (above) is top-notch, CSS Mastery is pretty good, O'Reilly is usually very solid as well. If you do buy O'Reilly just be sure to check the date because some of their books are a bit old and they all have a similar cover from what I can tell. |
